Models such as BERT, GPT, LLaMA and DALL-E are well-known examples of foundation models. They represent a major shift in the development of artificial intelligence, as a single model can now serve as the foundation for many different applications. However, they should not be confused with the AI tools people use every day. Tools such as Grammarly, DeepL, Midjourney, Copilot or Perplexity are not foundation models themselves. They are applications built on top of AI models. Within Google’s AI ecosystem, these models play a central role. Google develops the Gemini family of models, which can understand and generate different types of information. This family includes Gemini Flash , optimized for speed, Gemini Pro , designed for more advanced reasoning, and Gemma , a family of open-source models intended for developers and researchers. Unlike conversational systems such as Gemini , which mainly respond to user queries, AI agents can organize tasks and execute them with varying levels of autonomy. Google is developing several technologies in this area, including Agent Gemini , which can combine web browsing, research and interactions with different applications. Platforms such as Vertex AI also allow organizations to create and deploy their own AI agents based on their internal data. Google Gems are customizable assistants that users can configure within Gemini to perform specific tasks, similar to OpenAI’s custom GPTs. How I Tamed the Big Bad AI It takes nerves of steel not to succumb to fear as waves of artificial intelligence crash across society: first came chatbots, designed mainly to carry on conversations, and then, more recently, agentic AI, which can take control of your computer. Between translation and artificial intelligence, the challenge isn’t to avoid the wave, but to learn how to ride it. Even AI pioneers, like Yoshua Bengio and Geoffrey Hinton, are sounding the alarm. All intellectual tasks could become replaceable within 18 to 24 months. Short-sighted employers risk plunging the economy into a chasm by replacing all their white-collar employees instead of enriching their work methods with AI. So, what can we do? I belong to two professions squarely in the line of fire: translation and copywriting. Like a canary in a coal mine, I would be among the first to fall if the air turned toxic. Yet I haven’t lost a single client. I’ve stayed afloat by mastering the technology on my own terms instead of waiting for it to be imposed on me under unacceptable conditions. Transforming AI into a Professional Superpower AI is certainly a threat, but we all have a lifeline: each of us can harness this technology—even for free—to do better and more. Well-mastered AI gives us a superpower. It helps us create more value. With the help of interactive AI, we can be even more useful to our clients and employers. So here's the approach I recommend to my colleagues. Stop being so shaky about AI. Passivity will cost you any real chance of progress. Instead, ask yourself how AI can help you deliver better services, faster, and perhaps at a better price. Consider what strategic or editorial skills you can develop now that execution no longer ties you down. AI elevates us when we approach it this way. The writer, relieved of writer's block, can start thinking like an editor-in-chief. The translator, freed from the agony of the first draft, can collaborate with AI to shape more vivid language and more seamless prose. In 2023, I bought a MacBook Pro with an M3 Max chip and 32GB of RAM. It was a bit slow, so last fall I reinvested in a well-ventilated gaming PC with a 1500-watt power supply and an RTX 5090 graphics card. Keep this configuration in mind. It's the minimum for a responsive system. With this setup, I can offer a confidential service without contributing to the environmental disaster wrought by massive data centres. How to Use LM Studio, Ollama and Free AI Models With this setup, you can install free software such as LM Studio or Ollama to run high-performance writing and translation models locally, such as Gemma 3 12B, Gemma 3 27B, and Mistral Small 3 24B, for example. All of these AI models are free. The free software AnythingLLM adds another essential layer: it lets you ground the AI in your own reference documents, including translation memories, glossaries, and style guides. This avoids the dreaded hallucinations , since the AI will retrieve the information instead of inventing it. I also contributed to the development of a faithful companion called TAIGR . This Windows add-on injects references from my Logiterm bitexts and glossaries to each prompt. TAIGR applies my 25 stylistic principles outlined in Text Appeal and produces not one, but three translations: the first adheres closely to the source structure, while the following two are freer, more fluid, and more idiomatic. AI thus becomes an interactive and perfectly discreet partner. It enriches my work and stimulates my creativity—much to the irritation of those who argue it shrinks the brain, just as priests once claimed that solitary pleasure caused blindness. By the same logic, one could argue that writing weakens memory, since it spares us the burden of memorizing everything. An absurd objection. Submit to Endless Post-Editing or Strategic Control? These approaches, developed over several decades, saw a major acceleration starting in the 2010s, driven by increased computing power, massive datasets, and architectural breakthroughs such as transformers and attention mechanisms. Reducing AI Hallucinations Isn’t About Achieving Perfection AI hallucinations are an inherent limitation of current AI models. They stem from the statistical and probabilistic nature of these systems and cannot be fully eliminated, regardless of the GenAI tool used. - AI-Assisted Creation: Brigitte Bardot Reimagined
Given the many tributes to Brigitte Bardot shared on Facebook, it inspired me to create my own. Not to reproduce what already existed, but to offer a more personal, AI-assisted creation, at the intersection of collective memory and contemporary illustration. Starting from a black-and-white photograph uploaded into Photoshop Beta, I explored the potential of artificial intelligence as a creative tool to restore colour and artistic expression. I then refined several details manually in Photoshop, shaping a portrait of Brigitte Bardot that sits somewhere between remembrance and artistic creation. When AI-Assisted Creation Becomes an Artistic Lever Through this project, I show how AI-assisted creation integrates into my creative process without ever replacing my artistic choices. The steps below illustrate the dialogue between my own intervention and AI tools, from raw source material to the final image. Step 1 – The Original Imprint A black-and-white photograph serves as the starting point—raw and expressive, acting as an emotional anchor. The gaze already captures something timeless. Step 2 – Neural Colourisation The image is colourised with AI, laying the foundations for a face ready to be stylized. Step 3 – Algorithmic Stylisation The colour photograph is reinterpreted in a watercolor style. The grain becomes painterly, the shadows soften. The algorithm sketches the face and hair in a deliberately minimalist way. Step 4 – Vintage Lighting Each detail is refined by hand: increased contrast in the gaze, a darker upper lip, and the addition of drawn contours and sketch-like details. The human hand reclaims control of the style. Step 5 – Manual Retouching The shadows are tinted pink with Photoshop, and the lighting takes on a cinematic quality. The image evokes 1960s film posters, balancing glamour and nostalgia. Step 6 – An Artistic Texture The edges of the image are partially whitened, especially around the outer hairline, revealing sketch lines in a sanguine tone—a coloured pencil traditionally used by artists. This treatment allows the image to detach from realism and enter the Lemireart visual universe. The Final Stroke This portrait is part of a highly inspiring editorial illustration approach. It is my fourth tribute portrait of a deceased public figure created in 2025. This type of work could naturally fit in a general-interest publication looking to mark a significant moment in a public figure’s life through a bold, non-conventional tribute image. It is, however, essential to highlight the importance of usage rights for the source photograph, particularly when it comes from an image bank. The portrait was completed in under an hour and a half, a fraction of the time a fully manual, digital illustration would normally require. This animation highlights the creative process. It demonstrates how an illustrator can move beyond the capabilities of AI by combining multiple images and refining the result through targeted retouching. - Context Engineering: The Skill Quietly Replacing Prompt Engineering
For the past three years, everyone has been obsessed with prompt engineering. Crafting the “perfect prompt,” long or short, expert-level or magic, as if they were secret cheat codes. But if you’ve been following the evolution of generative AI models, one thing became clear by late 2023: Prompt engineering was destined to fade . As models grew more capable of reasoning, rigid formulas became obsolete, and the real advantage shifted to something deeper: context engineering . Teams at OpenAI , Anthropic , and Google barely worry about “good prompts” anymore, since they use something far more powerful: context stacks . Let’s take a look at why context engineering is becoming the next strategic skill, and how you can start applying it today when working with chatbots. What Is Context Engineering? If a prompt tells a generative AI model, or more specifically, an agent, what to do, the context tells it how to think. Context engineering is the practice of designing the environment in which the agent will operate before it generates anything. In other words, you define: Who the agent should “be” (persona, role, expertise). What it’s trying to accomplish (goals, intent). How it should communicate (tone, style, structure). What it should rely on (examples, data, rules, previous work). With strong context engineering, the agent stops behaving like a simple tool…and starts acting like a trained virtual assistant. This is how superusers consistently get better results than casual users: it’s not because they write “better prompts,” it’s because they create better briefs. Prompt engineering is like giving an employee a single instruction. Context engineering is like giving them training, a role, a manual, examples, boundaries… and then an instruction. Put simply, a prompt depends on wording, but context depends on understanding . The difference with an example Classic prompt: “Write a LinkedIn post about AI productivity tools.” The result is a hit-or-miss. Sometimes helpful, sometimes very generic. Context-engineered version: “You are a tech founder known for practical, viral insights, with a confident and slightly provocative tone rooted in real use cases. Here are three sample posts as reference. Your audience: CEOs, freelancers, and entrepreneurs. Write a new post about AI productivity tools in this style, taking all this information into account.” See the difference? It’s no longer a prompt. It’s a brief . You’re giving the agent an identity, a purpose, a framework, and direction—just as you would with a human employee. Prompt engineering is talking to the agent, interacting with it; context engineering is training the agent before you even start the conversation. Why context becomes even more crucial as AI models scale The new generation of generative AI models like GPT-5, Claude 4.5, Gemini 3 and others are reasoning models. They follow multi-step logic, interpret documents, and handle complex tasks… but only if they understand the context they’re operating in. This is why prompt engineering is losing relevance. No more esoteric formulas. No need to repeat “act as…” with every prompt. No endless 500-word monologues just to get a decent answer. But you absolutely need context. As one Anthropic engineer put it: “Good outputs come from good instructions. Great outputs come from great context.” And research backs this up: the study referenced below shows that future model performance will depend far less on how prompts are written… and far more on the quality, structure, and relevance of the context provided. The chart shows that prompt engineering is limited to a static request, where all the information has to be included every single time. It’s fragile, lacks memory, and is hard to scale or evolve. A Survey of Context Engineering for Large Language Models (2025) By contrast, context engineering brings together multiple elements such as role, data, rules, examples, and memory, to create a system that’s far more stable, flexible, and coherent, where the prompt itself becomes only a small part of the work. A simple way to start with context engineering: the 4Cs framework Here’s a model you can reuse to structure your interactions with AI, no matter the task or the type of agent or chatbot you’re working with: Character – Who is speaking? A product manager, a marketer, a teacher, a designer, a CEO? Command – What should the agent do? Analyze, create, rewrite, summarize, plan… Constraints – What rules must it follow? Tone, length, structure, restrictions, target audience… Context – What does the agent need to succeed? Examples, data, guidelines, objectives, prior work… Another 4C framework, proposed by Status Neo , offers a slightly different perspective: Clarity – crafting clear, unambiguous instructions. Continuity – maintaining context across interactions. Compression – summarizing long content efficiently. Customization – adapting the context to user roles and needs. Over time, the agent begins to think like you, your judgment, your priorities, your style. And that changes EVERYTHING. Conversation → Project → Custom GPT or dedicated agent These frameworks become especially powerful once you move beyond simple one-off conversations. For example, ChatGPT Projects or Claude Artifacts already allow you to retain some context across sessions, but it remains partial, limited, and usually tied to a specific task or scope. With a dedicated agent such as a custom GPT, the context becomes truly persistent, structured, and reusable: role, rules, style, data, memory, tools. The agent knows what it’s supposed to do, regardless of the prompt. The difference is gradual: Regular conversation: minimal and temporary context. Project or artifact: context retained but narrow and task-focused. Dedicated agent (e.g., a custom GPT): full, durable, orchestrated context. The more structured and persistent the context, the more coherent, accurate, and reliable the results become. Why context engineering matters more than prompt engineering Here’s a truth most people don’t say out loud: Prompt engineering relies a little on luck, while context engineering relies on structure. Without context, you’re rolling the dice. With context, you’re building a system. Let’s look at another example. Prompt-only version: “Analyze our customer support tickets from Q4 2025 and summarize the main issues.” Context-engineered version: “Here are our customer support ticket logs (CSV attached). Time period: October to December 2025. Intended audience: the executive team, evaluating operational inefficiencies. Goal: reduce ticket volume next quarter. Expected output: bullet-point insights plus recommended actions for leadership. Analyze the dataset using this context. One is asking for a miracle. The other provides the ingredients. The role of the context window Today's AI models can process massive amounts of information: GPT-5.1: up to 400K tokens Claude Opus 4.5: 200K Gemini 3 Pro: 1 million This means you can upload things like: brand guidelines, a style guide, sample work, datasets, full reports, code, product documentation, specs, and more. But bigger isn’t always better: the larger the window, the more you pay… and the more noise you introduce. That’s where context engineering becomes essential. ❌ It’s not about giving more information. ✅ It’s about giving the right information. Best practices for context engineering Design clean, specific tasks Clear goals, defined audience, expected format. Define a persona This heavily shapes the agent’s reasoning and tone. Provide examples AI models learn by analogy: show, don’t just tell. Upload the data it needs AI can’t use information it doesn’t have. Well… except when it hallucinates. Connect the AI to the right information Report excerpts, internal procedures, FAQs, spreadsheets, and so on. Validate step by step Break complex tasks down into smaller, manageable steps. Why context engineering matters for the future of work Across every field, from marketing to translation, education, design, consulting, production, and beyond, the people who thrive aren’t the ones writing the “best prompts.” In fact, the perfect prompt doesn’t even exist. The ones who excel are those who: design the environment, structure the information, control the data and inputs, guide the reasoning. In other words, the ones who master context engineering. And even beginners can produce work that feels like it came from an entire team. More than a skill, context engineering is a strategic advantage. A word about RAG systems (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) To go even further, RAG systems allow the AI to fetch the right information from the right source, like your documents, your data, your internal resources, before generating a response. This leads to fewer errors, higher accuracy, and an AI agent that relies on a real knowledge base rather than guesswork. “For organizations, the path is straightforward: turn their internal document assets into a strategic advantage through a RAG system. This involves four key steps: start by auditing internal document repositories, launch a pilot project within a specific department, measure the actual gains, then scale the approach across the organization.” Héon, Michel. No, context engineering is not just an upgraded megaprompt It’s normal to confuse context engineering with a “megaprompt”: a long, highly detailed instruction, especially when so much advice online tells you to pack your prompt with roles, examples, constraints, and goals. In reality, a megaprompt is still a one-off instruction: everything is sent in a single message and forgotten as soon as you move on to the next prompt. Context engineering doesn’t try to make the prompt heavier. Instead, it builds a persistent framework: a role, a style, rules, data, memory, or a RAG system that the agent can reuse automatically. A megaprompt improves a single instruction. Context engineering improves the entire system around the instruction. Which is why you can then use shorter prompts and still get consistent, aligned, high-quality results. The next step: building your own context system If you want an edge going into 2026, remember this: What matters isn’t what you ask a chatbot, it’s what it already understands before you ask anything at all. The same prompts lead to the same structures, the same phrasing, the same polished yet interchangeable tone, resulting in a sea of sameness where posts blur together, emails sound alike, and websites read like replicas of one invisible template. This paradox of so-called “creative AI” reveals an uncomfortable truth: content is now more accessible than ever, but also less distinctive. And where everyone is competing for just a few seconds of attention, that uniformity comes at a cost: the loss of identity . The Symptom: AI-Generated Content That Falls Flat Take a look at your LinkedIn feed, your inbox, or even the ads that follow you from one site to another, everything feels oddly familiar, doesn’t it? Posts that read like copy-and-paste clones, filled with the same vague buzzwords: synergy, impactful, inspiring, revolutionary, pioneering, innovative, and the list goes on. Cold emails that all sound identical, where the only thing that changes is the [Name] variable . Videos starring the same polished avatars, perfect in tone but completely devoid of emotion. This emotional uniformity gives the impression that everything has already been said, seen, and read. Yet the problem isn’t that AI lacks originality, it’s how we use it! 👉 Garbage in, garbage out. 👉 In other words, the quality of content depends directly on the quality of your thoughts, context, and the intention behind your content. When you ask an AI to “write an article about the benefits of remote work” without adding your own perspective, company culture, or brand voice, you end up with a text that’s universal, and therefore, impersonal. AI merely imitates the average web. To create content that truly resonates, you need to give it something human to amplify, like a vision, an experience, a way of seeing the world. Inspiration doesn’t come from trends; it comes from lived experience, from the small details that shape our unique perspective. Sometimes, all it takes is to refocus on yourself and what surrounds you. To bring back a sense of soul to your content, something no machine can truly replicate. The Cause: The Universalization of AI Tools We’re living in an era where everyone, quite literally, has access to the same digital brain. Whether it’s ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Mistral, or any other model, these AI engines draw from similar datasets and operate on comparable principles. It’s a remarkable form of equality in access, but it also creates a uniform starting point. Without a clear strategic vision, the temptation to delegate thinking to the machine becomes hard to resist: “Write a LinkedIn post about productivity. Craft an engaging introduction for a newsletter.” The outcome? Well-crafted, easy-to-read texts, perhaps even SEO-optimized, yet completely devoid of personality. AI has no mission, no conviction, no lived experience. It can’t stand for a cause, embody a voice, or convey a company’s culture, unless you feed it those specific (and ideally unique) elements. The problem isn’t the machine. The problem lies in the lack of context, tone, and intention in the prompts we give it. It’s a bit like handing a Stradivarius violin to someone who only knows one tune. The sound may be beautiful, but the music will remain monotonous. The Turning Point: The Economy of Taste A concept that emerged several years ago, the economy of taste highlights a profound shift in how companies create value. Take Apple, for example. Much of its success comes from the design and ergonomics of its products, proof that a brand’s ability to capture good taste has become a key driver of success. According to Christian Barrère, Professor Emeritus at the University of Reims , we are witnessing a genuine reversal of economic logic: “The economy of taste replaces the utility-driven exchange based on meeting a need with an aesthetic value proposition — an offer that is, by nature, entirely subjective.” In other words, within this economy of taste, a product’s value no longer depends solely on its utility but on the emotion, the beauty, and the pleasure it provides. The video was done using my own avatar, blending technology with a touch of personal creativity. This almost uncanny realism shows just how far AI tools have evolved, and yet, how imagination, emotion, and lived experience remain at the heart of what makes content truly unique and authentic. How to Escape the Sea of Sameness The good news is that it’s absolutely possible to stand out, even in an ocean of AI-generated content. It’s not about ditching the tools, but about taking the wheel. AI can become a powerful ally, as long as you use it to express your identity, not dilute it. Here are four key steps to help you do just that. 🧭 Define Your Audience (and Truly Understand Them) Before you create any content, you need to know who you’re speaking to. Your audience isn’t a homogeneous block, it’s made up of real people with specific needs, interests, emotions, and motivations. Start by gathering the signals already available: comments, customer reviews, surveys, social media posts and comments, and email interactions. Then, let AI help you decode them. “Summarize the main needs and frustrations expressed in our online store’s customer reviews.” “What do our most loyal customers have in common?” In just a few minutes, you can get a detailed portrait of your audience, their expectations, vocabulary, and pain points. In marketing, this is known as social listening, the ability to capture what people are saying, sharing, and feeling about a given topic. Not long ago, this kind of analysis required hours of manual monitoring across social media, forums, and customer reviews. That way, every piece of content generated, whether it’s an article, a social media post, or an email, becomes a natural extension of your brand voice. 🔮 Generate Concepts, Not Filler Content Once your brand, professional or personal identity is clear, it’s time to create, but not just anything. Instead of asking AI to “write an article about 2026 marketing trends,” root your request in your story and your values. Flat prompt: “Write an article about the impact of AI in marketing.” Enriched prompt: “Considering our positioning as an ethical and sustainable company, write an article about how AI can make marketing more responsible and human.” The difference? The second prompt gives AI direction and purpose, turning a generic response into meaningful content. Of course, you can take this even further by adding more context and detail. Use AI as a creative partner, not a text machine: “Suggest three original campaign angles based on our core message: making technology simple and accessible for everyone. Then, adapt your format and tone to each channel: A short video to grab attention. A long-form article to dive deeper into a topic. A Reddit reply to build trust. A newsletter to nurture relationships. Measure and adjust. AI can help you analyze reactions, test different versions of your content, and suggest optimizations based on your goals and context. The key is intention before production — creating less, but better. That’s what turns AI from a content factory into a strategic amplifier. The Future of Marketing in the Age of AI We’re witnessing an unprecedented shift. The rules of marketing are no longer dictated by search engines, but by conversation engines. Consumers no longer type “best cordless vacuum 2025” into Google, they ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Gemini.
