Artificial Intelligence Usage Policy
We believe that artificial intelligence is a powerful lever for social, professional, and technological transformation. This policy clearly explains how Info IA Québec uses AI for its operations and content, in alignment with our AI Manifesto, our Data & Privacy Policy, and our Terms & Conditions.
Context
Artificial intelligence (AI) is now embedded in many tools we use daily, to work, learn, create, organize, plan, write, translate, and communicate. At Info IA Québec, AI plays a key role both in the content we publish and the methods we explore. Since our mission is to democratize AI in a responsible, transparent, and informed way, it is essential for us to explain how we integrate it into our work, what limitations we impose on ourselves, and what guarantees we aim to provide our community.
Purpose of This Policy
This policy is intended to:
-
Describe how we use AI in our content creation and work processes.
-
Clarify the limitations and safeguards associated with these tools.
-
Reaffirm our commitment to using AI responsibly, ethically, and transparently.
Legal and Regulatory Frameworks
The legal regulation of artificial intelligence is rapidly evolving worldwide. At Info IA Québec, we closely monitor laws, regulations, and policy developments related to AI. We adhere to the core principles underlying these frameworks: transparency, safety, accountability, non-discrimination, and respect for fundamental rights.
Accordingly, we are committed to adjusting our practices based on the applicable regulatory frameworks, including:
-
In Canada, the federal government has issued guidelines for the responsible use of AI, and is currently working on a bill called the Artificial Intelligence and Data Act (AIDA). This proposed legislation aims to regulate high-risk AI systems by emphasizing transparency, accountability, and public safety.
-
In Québec, while there is currently no specific legislation targeting the private sector, the Conseil de l’innovation du Québec (Québec Innovation Council) plays an active role in guiding the responsible use of AI. It promotes ethical practices and encourages an approach aligned with Québec’s social, cultural, economic, and environmental values.
-
In the European Union, the AI Act, adopted in 2024, is the first comprehensive legal framework for AI. It categorizes AI systems by risk level (minimal, limited, high, unacceptable) and imposes strict obligations on high-risk applications, particularly regarding transparency, human oversight, and traceability. Although Info IA Québec is not directly subject to these regulations, we voluntarily align with their guiding principles to ensure responsible and ethical AI practices.
Tools and Technologies Used
We use generative AI tools as assistive technologies in our operations, including:
-
Writing, editing, and translating content.
-
Creating visuals.
-
Analyzing or categorizing information.
-
Exploring or recommending tools and real-world use cases.
The technologies we use include, but are not limited to: ChatGPT (OpenAI), Perplexity AI, Copilot (Microsoft), Gemini and NotebookLM (Google), and Claude (Anthropic). These tools help us generate ideas, structure content, and propose alternate wording. However, all published content is reviewed, verified, and refined by human contributors. AI never replaces our editorial judgment or responsibility. AI-generated visuals and text are always reviewed before publication. As part of our mission to educate and inform, we also test and review AI tools to understand their strengths, limitations, and practical applications.
Human Oversight
AI is a tool, not an author. While it supports our creative processes, no content is ever published without human review. We use AI to boost productivity, amplify our individual expertises, work more efficiently, and develop new ideas. It may suggest text structures, rewrite passages, explore a topic from different angles, or generate alternate phrasings. However, the final selection, validation, consistency, and meaning are always handled by a member of our team. We believe that combining artificial and human intelligence results in a higher level of quality while optimizing our workflows.
Limitations and Cautions
AI systems can sometimes produce:
-
Factual inaccuracies or misinterpretations.
-
Biased, outdated, or incomplete content.
-
Artificial or stereotyped content.
We are committed to using sound judgment, correcting any errors brought to our attention, and continuously training our team in best practices for AI usage. While we carefully review all content prior to publication, mistakes can happen—after all, to err is human. If you notice an inaccuracy or problematic content, please contact us at bonjour@infoiaquebec.com so we can address it promptly and maintain a high standard of quality and trust.
Personal Data and AI
In accordance with our Privacy Policy, no personal data from site visitors is used to train or feed any AI system. The AI tools we use operate on individual prompts without access to user identifiers, email addresses, or any other personal information.
Ethical Commitment
Our approach is guided by the following principles:
-
Transparency
-
Reliability
-
Respect for human rights
-
Equitable and responsible knowledge sharing
